Who drives a boat?
We discussed the fact that a captain needs a confident crew. Each child explained ho they would want their first mate to be and why. At the end everyone received a friendship feather with the word "confident" on it.
Here are the kids using their friendship feathers for tickling each other...
We also played a guessing game to find the "buried treasure" under our numbered "coconuts". Everyone closed their eyes and we sang a song while the "captain" hid the treasure under a numbered coconut and then the rest of the kids guessed the number of the coconut they thought the treasure was under. Each child had a turn to be captain...
Last, the kids worked in their workbooks, tracing letters and drawing themselves surfing...
