Our ladybugs have arrived!
My husband had a little bit of confusion when he opened a padded envelope that was in our mailbox, only to find BUGS! It is ladybug larvae and you would be surprised at how foreign they look before they grow to adult ladybugs.
Here is our ladybug habitat:
Here are the models, to learn the look of
ladybugs during their 4 life cycle stages:
Let's meet the ladybugs!
Watching the ladybug larvae. We have a bug magnification glass that we can use to see the bugs around the sides of the habitat and the very top opening of the habitat is a magnification glass itself, so if we have ladybugs at the top of the habitat, its easy to see them magnified. We added a few leaves and 3 raisins since we read that ladybugs like to eat raisins. You must provide your ladybugs water, but not too much!
Learning about the life stages of the ladybugs...
Stage 1: Eggs
Stage 2: Larva, Stage 3: Pupa
